Dealer Onboarding

The Challenge

Re-purpose elements of a recently launched online loan application to create a new dealer onboarding application with near zero development effort.

Create an online flow to gather the same information, agreements and signatures required by the existing paper form.

Use Sketch's symbol library feature to replicate the existing styles and quickly develop a solution.

My Role

The Equipment Finance Division at Bank of the West partners with dealers of farm equipment and heavy machinery to provide financing when they sell a piece of equipment to their customers.

We had just launched an online application for the loans, but initiating a partnership with the dealers was still done via paper form and fax machine.

I reviewed the paper form and created a high-level flow diagram to review with my business partner.

After a few tweaks to the flow diagram, we went through the loan application to identify elements that would suit our needs.

To illustrate how these elements would be adapted to the new onboarding flow, I created a Sketch symbol library that captured the existing form elements and text styles.

The Result

The unique constraints of this project presented a fun puzzle to work through. Sketch's symbol libraries allowed me to create pixel-accurate designs in record time.

Within a matter of weeks, my business partner had a design to share with his leadership and our sole developer.
